OREIS™ will identify a substance, chemical or hazardous material based on its unique
United Nation's classification identifier. This four-digit number is another resource used by
emergency responders to identify dangerous chemicals in the initial phases of an incident. To
activate this feature, select from the main menu.
- To access information about a chemical, the user should enter
the four-digit UN ID and select "Search". To cancel the search and return to the
main menu, select "Close".

- After the user initiates a search for a UN ID number, OREIS™ will display the NAERG
information for that placard. This display includes the classification or division of the substance
represented by the UN ID and emergency response guidance information for dealing
with the substance.
- The guidance information is divided into three sections: "Potential Hazards," "Public Safety"
and "Emergency Response." Each category contains subsections. Select the radio button
next to any section to view the information under this heading ("Protective Clothing," "Fire"
etc.).
- If the UN ID number that entered was in the incorrect format or does not exist, the system
will return a "search unsuccessful" message that will alert the user that the number entered is
invalid.

- Select "Print Report" to send this screen to your system's default printer. Select the
"Close" button to return to the main menu of OREIS™.
