  1. The "Placard" button on the main menu activates a series of screens displaying every placard symbol used in rail and truck transport in the United States, Canada and Mexico. When a user selects the "Placard" button, a screen displaying these placards will appear. To view the next screen of placard symbols, select "Next" or "Previous".

  2. Responders can visually identify the placard located on a truck or railcar and match it to a placard displayed in OREIS™. Clicking on a placard symbol will display the NAERG information for that placard. This display includes the classification or division of the substance represented by the placard and emergency response guidance information for dealing with the substance.

  3. The guidance information is divided into three sections: "Potential Hazards," "Public Safety" and "Emergency Response." Each category contains subsections. Select the radio button next to any section to view the information under this heading ("Protective Clothing," "Fire" etc.).

  4. Select "Placard Look Up" to make another selection. Select "Print Report" to send this screen to your system's default printer. Select the "Main Menu" button to return to the main menu of OREIS™.
