AAR Chemical List Placard Symbol Search            Passenger Train

The Association of American Railroads has compiled a database of the chemicals carried by railroads in the United States. This database provides a wealth of information about various chemicals, their properties, reactivity and other important data.

Next to the chemical names are the Standard Transportation Commodity Code (STCC) numbers, which uniquely identify the name with the hazmat response data files. The chemical names are sorted alphabetically.

  1. To view more chemicals from the list, use the scroll bar from the list box to traverse the items. To view another list of chemicals, which begins with a different letter, click on a letter button at the top of the screen. The "?" button will list chemical names that begin with characters other than letters of the alphabet. Besides using the scroll bars to search for a specific chemical name, you may type in the name at the edit box. The system automatically searches for the closest match from the list.

  2. To view the chemical information, double click on the chemical name. The AAR information screen will appear.
